Public Resources (Lifelong Learning)

As a part of our distance learning program, UI open its knowledge to the world. We initiates online learning for UI students and also for national and international community, through UI MOOCs and also open educational content. In order to support the initiatives, we develop and maintain distance learning facilities and also support its user.

Open Courses

As a part of UI’s distance education, study program creates massive open online courses for anyone who wants to learn in UI without having to be a student. Since 2020, UI initiate Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) development and implementation. Before MOOCs, in 2014 UI has open up its courses to approximately 3085 students from other universities, through PDITT program from the ministry of education. To date, UI develop over 259 MOOCs from each faculty. UI MOOCs is designed to enhance UI reputation as a though leader, to broadening access to quality education, and also to gain income.

UI MOOCs can be accessed in Integrated Distance and Online Learning Systems or IDOLS (idols.ui.ac.id). Through UI MOOCs, participants can enhance competency with courses and certificates from the leading expert at Universitas Indonesia. UI also had partnership with Indonesia Cyber Education to open its MOOCs to local and global audiences. Upon MOOCs completion, participants can receive certificate or credits.

Open CourseWare UI is an initiative based on OCW MIT Consortium, which consists of free course material shared by UI faculty members. OCW UI can be accessed in ocw.ui.ac.id and already have 58 free courses available for everyone.

Free Learning Resources

Open Videos UI first published in 2013, consists of a recorded public lecture by several high-profile public figures. It continues to create a recorded session from classroom lectures, general lectures, or video conference sessions. In 2015 OVIS UI was expanded to include educational content produced by DPASDP. To date, UI already has a vast collection of 1047 educational videos, which can be accessed from https://www.youtube.com/c/MITVUI or ovis.ui.ac.id.

Subject of the learning material related to enhancing quality education that has been released at youtube OVIS i.e.:

  • Merdeka belajar Bersama Dian Sastro (Freedom of Learning with Dian Sastro-indonesian actress)  the actress describes about digging knowledge experiences during her study year.
  • Webinar HKI (Intellectual/Academic Copyright) this is a video campaign on how to obtain intellectual copyright.

Online Learning Network, Facilities and Support

To facilitate online learning in UI, we provide learning management systems (LMS), based on moodle LMS, which is managed by the directorate of academic development and learning resources sub directorate and directorate of systems and information technology.

The LMS is called e-learning management system, or EMAS, accessed through emas.ui.ac.id. User can log in using UI single sign on account. Faculty member can open every class assigned through the academic systems, and applied the course learning design, so that the students can participate in learning activities.

EMAS is developed since 2007 and continue to evolve to serve our e-learning and distance learning needs. At the end of 2020, EMAS UI hosted 6056 courses from each faculty and accessed by user from many regions in Indonesia.

EMAS support the learning process such as collaboration work, course material distribution, student assignments, and formative and summative evaluation. Faculty members and students can also track their learning progress through data analytics provided by EMAS.

Faculty member can create multimedia interactive content and share it with the students. Students and faculty members can also engage in asynchronous discussion for better flexibility. Faculty members can create evaluation activity, students can submit their assignments and faculty can grade it. EMAS also support computer-based testing, which can be use for formative or summative evaluation. Another feature which can be use to can track user’s learning progress in every class they enrolled to. This feature particularly useful for students to track their progress.

In addition to facility support, the Directorate (DPASDP)  also provides helpdesk services, to assist lecturers and students in the implementation of online learning. Helpdesk staff can be contacted on working days and hours (08.00-16.00) through the live chat facility or face-to-face.

GDLN is a learning network initiated by the World Bank in 2000, which today has more than 120 learning centers (GDLN affiliates). Its main goal is to enable GDLN affiliates to host coordination, consultation, and training events in a timely and cost-effective manner through videoconferencing, high-speed internet resources, and interactive facilitation and learning techniques.

GDLN UI host several video conference-based learning events, such as training, seminars, or joint courses. Anyone who is interested in the event can register and attend.

The Directorate of Academic Development and Learning Resources is dedicated to providing facilities to accommodate technology based learning such as a smart training room, computer laboratory each in Depok and Salemba campus, two studios for learning content, and also video conference equipment.

Studio 1 is equipped with sophisticated high tech cameras and sound recording, for live streaming, video conferencing with partners from other countries.

Computer Laboratory Depok is a classroom  with desktop computers which can be use for IT training, conducting computer based testing and also video conferencing with a capacity of up to 49 participants.

Training Room is our flexible training room model, which can be use to conduct faculty member training, instructional design training, workshops and also can be use by students for a more interactive learning process. It can also facilitate video conferencing for up to 40 participants.

Smart Training Room is our latest training room besides being flexible it also has high connectivity. This room can be used for faculty member training, focus group discussions, video conferencing or other activities that require internet connectivity because each section has its own equipment and screen.

Studio 2 is a broadcast standard recording studio. It can be used for learning content record and art & culture recording. Our staff will assist users in operating the equipment if needed.

The Directorate (DPASDP) services include support for the UI academic community, whether related to facilities and services in their use. Some faculties also have has similar facilities, but DPASDP is always open to the academic community who wish to use its services and facilities.

Lifelong Learning Access Policy

To support lifelong learning, UI establish policy on distance education and it’s use as a part of the independence learning for students.
